The FFA
The FFA, formally known as the "Future Farmers of America", is a national organization of students studying vocational agriculture/aquaculture which has as its main goals the development of leadership, citizenship and cooperation.
All students enrolled in the Vocational Aquaculture Center are encouraged to belong to the FFA. The organization is an integral part of the curriculum. Meetings are held regularly and students are encouraged to attend.
In the first year in the aquaculture school, students are introduced to FFA. They are informed about the activities and contests that are available to them as members. Second year students are encouraged to become active members of the FFA. In the third and fourth year of study, students are expected to be active members of the FFA.
In addition to FFA meetings, The Sound School also has a variety of FFA Subchapters (classes or clubs that explore a variety of extracurricular subtopics topics of agriculture and aquaculture).
