Guidance Department

The Guidance Program is an integral part of the instructional program at the Sound School. The Program helps each individual student achieve the best of their educational opportunities toward a productive and useful life. The Guidance Program attempts to provide the student with the skills necessary to achieve self-respect, emotional security, understanding of the world and job market, career decisions, and personal and academic growth.

The Guidance Counselor is the primary advocate for all students providing individual counseling in personal, educational and career matters. This includes aiding students in high school and preparing them for their future in a career, technical school or college. Students and parents can attend orientation sessions for the S.A.T., financial aid, and college application process. Students can attend college fairs, college trips (In-State and Out of State), and/or college classes in their Junior and Senior years.

The Guidance Department also participates in student referral meetings, P.P.T.'s, parent - teacher conferences and issues notices to parents concerning attendance, possible failure and deficiency notices. The Guidance Office is also the liaison between Community Agencies and The Sound School.
