LRE (Least Restricted Environment Plan)
The Sound School has adopted and implemented a philosophy that is committed to the success of all students. It is exemplified in the phrase, "no casualties" and refers to serving students of all ability levels to the greatest degree possible. This idea is a goal that is being aggressively pursued and has resulted in substantive changes in how The Sound School is operated at almost every level. It is a work in progress, with ongoing adjustments and refinements as we move closer to reducing the frequency of student failure. Some of the program features of our "no casualties" approach are:
- Extensive data collection and analysis of student achievement
- A continuum of services for all students
- Flex-time academic support
- Individual tutoring
- After school homework help
- Resource room support
- Small class sizes and flexible groupings.
- Inclusion of all special education students.
- Ongoing staff discussion and strategies for increasing student achievement.
- The development of curriculum, scheduling, and budget subcommittees of the SPMT.
- Exploring nontraditional instructional strategies to capture unique learners.
