CoordinatorThe Sound School is a comprehensive educational program that prepares students for college, technical schools, or for entering employment upon graduation. The curriculum includes extensive exposure to on-the-water and water-related activities and coursework such as sailing sharpies, rowing dories, lobstering, shellfish harvesting, aquaculture production, nautical drafting, boat building, fisheries gear technology, natural resource management, environmental appreciation, vessel handling and safety at sea. Our New Haven students may opt to study the more traditional vocational agriculture program which includes courses in plant science, animal science, agriculture mechanics and veterinary science.

We have twenty-two laboratories equipped with industry level equipment, some on the level found at universities and research institutions. The Center's new labs and refurbished facility could not have happened without thousands of hours of individuals' efforts and strong support from New Haven Public Schools. Our school, because of this support has had regional and national recognition. Our program continues to expand curricular offerings, while always providing the young people from New Haven and its suburbs a quality vocational education. The Vocational Agriculture Program has changed students' lives, broadened their personal and occupational horizons and given them the confidence important to leadership.
