The Sound School Parent Advisory Council, otherwise know as PAC, focuses on creating community between the parents, staff and students. Our organizational objectives are: To support the mission of The Sound School; To participate in the administration of The Sound School by adding the parents’ point of view to the development of school policy, procedure, resource allocation and curriculum; To aid in communication between the school, home and community; To provide or create open forums for discussing issues pertaining to The Sound School between Parents and school administration; To provide advocacy on behalf of the school to the community including (but not limited to) The Board of Education of New Haven and local towns. Over 20 towns from Connecticut send students to The Sound School. We encourage students and their families to participate in PAC sponsored community service projects. This helps students obtain the number of community service hours required for graduation. PAC also sponsors a variety of fund raisers to present our students with scholarships at graduation as well as other gifts to the school. Perhaps the largest contribution the PAC provides to The Sound School community is our daily e-mail communication. Through this communication, parents can stay informed about the happenings at the Sound School. Communication is key with so many people living out of District, and with so many parents in the work force. Through daily e-mail, parents find important information including opportunities to become a part of the Sound School Community. The Sound School PAC meets monthly (usually on the second Tuesday of the month) in the Library Media Center. In our meetings you will hear from the Principal, Steven Pynn, and will learn about topics that directly impact our school and students. Please join us!
