Description:

Using the protocols provided by the advisors and the guidance provided in the EPA Volunteer Estuary Monitoring: A Methods Manual, the primary investigators and research assistants will survey all of the organisms within 0.5 × 0.5 meter quadrat at randomly selected positions along 100 foot transect lines set up at established sites on rocky and sandy inter-tidal zones on the shores of the New Haven Harbor. The purpose of the studies will be to ascertain changes in the communities and populations in the area, to search for the invasive species, to observe birds that frequent the area and to assess what impact changes in weather conditions and water quality will have on the ecosystems.
